Fall Athletes of the Week

TENNIS DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Brittany Grandville (Jr. , Tappan, N.Y.) and Carol Tyson  (Jr., Clinton Corners N.Y.), New Paltz
Grandville & Tyson defeated their Rutgers-Newark opponents 8-0 at first flight doubles to kick off the 2016 campaign.

 

TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK  – Olivia Ammirati (SR), New Paltz

Hometown: Huntington, NY

Ammirati, the reigning Co-SUNYAC Player of the Year, kicked off the 2016 campaign with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first flight singles against Rutgers Newark on Saturday. She also aided in an 8-0 number two doubles win as well.

 

CROSS COUNTRY MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Dylan McCarthy (SO), Oswego

Hometown: Liverpool, N.Y.

McCarthy - the SUNYAC's reigning Rookie of the Year - wasted no time picking up where he left off from a year ago by taking the top spot at the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational ... He broke a two-year old school record in the process with a 6K time of 19:27.0 ...The sophomore fended off a gaggle of Oneonta Red Dragon runners who finished in places 2-6 ... McCarthy's closest competition was Oneonta's Devin Akerly, crossing the finish line exactly one second ahead of his Red Dragon opponent.

 

CROSS COUNTRY FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK– April Ackermann (SR), Oneonta

Hometown: Cochecton, N.Y.

Ackermann was the overall winner this past Saturday in leading the Red Dragons to the team title at the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational. Ackermann set the 4K course record with a time of 16:59.8 in winning the race.
