CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its cross country and tennis athletes of the week for the week ending September 11. Five athletes from three member schools were recognized.

CROSS COUNTRY FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Lauren Perschetz, Plattsburgh
(Sr., - Armonk, N.Y.)
Plattsburgh State senior Lauren Perschetz placed fourth out of 197 runners at Vassar College's Ron Stonitsch Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Vassar Farm. She clocked a time of 19:01.9 in the five-kilometer race, averaging a 6:07.5 mile pace. Perschetz helped the Cardinals place fifth out of 15 teams in a field that included the defending national champions, Williams College.

CROSS COUNTRY MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Isaac Garcia-Cassani, Geneseo
(Jr., - Holbrook, N.Y.)
Garcia-Cassani finished first out of 106 runners to lead the Knights to first place at the Oswego Invitational on Saturday. In his first race of the season, he covered the eight-kilometer course with a winning time of 26:50.1

TENNIS SINGLES ATHETE OF THE WEEK - Anna Chiacchia, Fredonia
(Freshman, - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Playing at No. 3 singles, Chiacchia won all three matches during the week and improved to 4-0. One of her wins (6-2, 6-2) came vs. conference divisional opponent Brockport which helped Fredonia to a 5-4 team win. The other two wins this week were against Elmira College (6-1, 6-0) and Alfred University (6-0, 6-1). Anna has won eight of nine sets in her four singles matches this season.

TENNIS DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK - Kaitlyn Healy/Kelci Henn, Plattsburgh 
(Sr./So., - Clifton Park, N.Y./Mastic Beach, N.Y.)
The duo of Kaitlyn Healy and Kelci Henn grabbed an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles against Cortland on Saturday. The win proved to be pivotal as the Cardinals grabbed a narrow 5-4 victory over the Red Dragons.
