SUNYAC announces weekly honors for field hockey, soccer and volleyball
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference selects its athletes of the week for field hockey, soccer and volleyball for the week of Sept. 26 - Oct. 2.

FIELD HOCKEY OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Gabby Stein (SR), Cortland
Position: F
Hometown: Endwell, N.Y.
Stein helped guide the Red Dragons (7-3, 3-0 SUNYAC) to a pair of home victories last week, scoring 10 points on five goals. She tallied Cortland's first goal in a 2-1 upset win versus nationally 12th-ranked William Smith on Wednesday and followed up with four goals in a 7-0 triumph versus Brockport in conference play on Saturday. For the season, Stein leads the Red Dragons with 27 points on a team-best 10 goals and seven assists and has moved into fifth place in career scoring at Cortland (57-18-132).

FIELD HOCKEY DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK  – Kailynn Reinoehl (SO), Cortland
Position: GK
Hometown: Lititz, P.A.

Reinoehl helped the Red Dragons (7-3, 3-0 SUNYAC) post a 2-0 record last week. In a 2-1 home victory versus nationally 12th-ranked William Smith on Wednesday, Reinoehl turned aside 12 shots, allowing only a penalty-stroke goal. It was the third time this season she recorded double-digit saves in a game. She then stopped three shots in 64:32 as Cortland defeated Brockport, 7-0, in a home conference game on Saturday. For the season, Reinoehl has posted a 7-3 record with a 0.82 GAA and an .892 save percentage.

MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Parker Healy (SR), Fredonia
Position: F
Hometown: East Aurora, N.Y.
Scored his fourth goal of the season vs. John Carroll in a 2-0 win. His fifth goal of the season game in a 3-2 SUNYAC win over Buffalo State. Tied for the team lead for goals (5) and points (14).

MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK– Connor Young (JR), Cortland
Hometown: Bayport, N.Y.
Young extended his scoreless streak to 280:39 by posting two home conference shutouts last weekend for the Red Dragons (8-2, 3-1 SUNYAC). He opened the weekend with seven saves as Cortland defeated Potsdam, 1-0, on Friday. Young followed up with five saves in Cortland's 4-0 victory versus 18th-ranked Plattsburgh on Saturday, giving him three consecutive shutouts in his first three career starts. For the season, Young has posted a 3-0 record with 20 saves and a 0.00 GAA. 

WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Melissa Smith (SR), Buffalo State
Position: F
Hometown: Tonawanda,  N.Y.
The senior early childhood education major scored a pair of goals as the Bengals cruised past Fredonia, 3-0, in a "Battle by the Lake" competition. Smith leads the Bengals with seven goals and 17 points in 10 games, including scoring five times in the past five games. Buffalo State is a perfect 3-0 in SUNYAC play and is 7-1-2 overall. 

WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Nichole Gibson (SO), Plattsburgh Position: Goalie
Hometown: Arkport, N.Y.
Nichole Gibson had a stellar weekend in helping the Cardinals defeat the Oswego State Lakers and the Cortland Red Dragons. The Arkport, N.Y. native made 10 saves though the weekend, which resulted in a pair of shutouts. With the wins Plattsburgh has remained undefeated at home, and in conference play this so far this season.

VOLLEYBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK-  Amanda May (JR), Cortland
Position: MH
Hometown: Baldwinsville, N.Y.
May finished with 45 kills, 16 blocks and four aces during a 3-1 week for the Red Dragons. She ended the week with a .368 attack percentage with only six errors in 106 attempts. May totaled 14 kills and only one error and added three blocks in a five-set win over Wells Wednesday. She was then named to the Skidmore Invitational all-tournament team after registering 13 kills and five blocks in a five-set win over Skidmore and 10 kills with one error and a .500 attack percentage in a sweep over Sage Colleges.
