2017 SUNYAC wide Leaf Raking Project

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Each fall student-athletes across the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) take part in a community service Leaf Raking Project which aims to give back to the communities by cleaning up the yards of the elderly and those in need of help before the winter begins.

Buffalo State

Buffalo State's student-athletes participated in a week long event of volunteering to rake leaves in and around the Delaware Park Rose Garden and the area around Hoyt Lake, a public park across from our campus. 

 

 

 

Cortland 

Members of Cortland's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raked leaves for elderly residents in the area on Sunday, November 5 as part of the SUNYAC annual leaf-raking project. Approximately 20 Red Dragon student-athletes participated in the event. The student-athletes raked lawns at nine addresses provided by the Cortland County Office of the Aging, and plan to do two more.

 

Fredonia

On November 5, Fredonia's softball and cheerleading teams took part in the conference-wide SAAC annual Leaf Raking project. 

 

 

 

Geneseo

On Sunday, November 5, Geneseo's student-athletes contributed a day of service to their community by taking part in the annual SUNYAC Leaf Raking event.

New Paltz

During the Annual Leaf Raking day on Sunday, November 5, all 15 of the New Paltz's varsity teams participated in the community service event. Each team helped clean up a different local citizen's yard by raking the fallen leaves.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oneonta

Oneonta participated in leaf raking from October 23- November 8. Nine teams participated in the event and raked at 27 homes in and around the city of Oneonta.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oswego 

Oswego student-athletes planned to take part in the Annual Leaf Raking event on November 5. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled due to thunderstorms.  

Plattsburgh

On Saturday, November 11, Plattsburgh's student-athletes joined the conference by raking the fallen leaves and cleaning up the yards of those in need in their community. 

 

 

 

Potsdam

Over 200 Potsdam student-athletes took part in the conference-wide annual Leaf Raking day on Sunday, November 5. The Bears raked 15 properties in the village as well as in the cemeteries of the Potsdam community. The student-athletes gave over six hours of community service.
