BROCKPORT, N.Y. - After day one of the State University of New York Athletic Conferece (SUNYAC) indoor track and field championships, Geneseo is leading in the women's team scores and Brockport is leading on the men's side The events that had finals and awards given out for the day were shot put, triple jump, women's pole vault, and women's pentathlon.

In shot put, Damone Brown from Fredonia took first place in mens with a final score of 15.93 meters. Brockport's Victoire Kothor took first for womens earning a final distance of 15.15 meters.

For triple jump, Cortland's Dawan Jones took first with a final score of 14.60 meters in mens and Brockport's Chanyce Powell took first in womens with a 11.56 meter jump.

In women's pole vault, Geneseo's Laura Piazza took first with a distance of 3.70 meters. The Geneseo trend continued in the women's pentathlon with juniors Julianna Lauricella finishing third, Erin MacDougall second and senior Madeline Hammer taking the top spot with 3,310 points.

The championships continue Saturday, February 24 starting at 10 a.m.
