Weekly Baseball Awards Announced

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced its weekly award selections for Baseball. This week's Athlete of the Week is Oswego's Matthew Dellicarri, and this week's Pitcher of the Week is Plattsburgh's Matthew Triola.

Dellicarri was a force to be reckoned with in the batter's box this week. With 17 hits in 30 at-bats, Dellicarri hit for an outstanding .567 batting average in his seven games. The junior knocked in 16 runs, including a career-high seven in Oswego's 14-5 win over Fredonia, and scored 10 runs over the week as well. Dellicarri was also 2-2 in stolen bases and drew two walks. Defensively, the Congers native was perfect, sporting a 1.000 fielding percentage. Dellicarri recorded 11 putouts from the outfield.

Triola came in as a relief pitcher for the Plattsburgh State baseball team against Alfred State to break the program record for longest relief appearance with 8.0 innings and helped the Cardinals take a 6-2 win. Triola scattered two hits, two runs, walked four and struck out five.
