2018 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Recap

RESULTS

CORTLAND, NY – The 2018 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships have ended with some significant achievements from those who represented the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). The championships took place from Wednesday, March 21 to Saturday, March 24.  Brockport, Buffalo State, Fredonia, Geneseo, and New Paltz each had at least one athlete participating.

Geneseo

Day 1:

Senior diver Samuel Randall earned an All-America sixth place finish in the 3-meter dive. Randall placed fifth in the 3-meter prelims with a score of 480.55 to qualify for the finals that evening. In the finals, he scored a 500.45 to earn his third career 3-meter All America honor and his fifth overall.

Day 2:

Sophomore diver Samantha Reichman finished 11th in the 1-meter dive earning an All America Honorable Mention. She finished 16th in the one meter dive preliminaries (385.50) to qualify for the consolation finals where she scored 411.00.

Day 3:

Randall topped the 1-meter diving field to win the championship title. He recorded a score of 527.00 to earn his first career 1-meter dive national crown.

Day 4:

Reichman finished 11th in the 1-meter dive and 13th in the 3-meter dive. This lead her to a pair of All-America Honorable Mentions.

Buffalo State

Day 2:

Connor Mergler became Buffalo State's first five time swimming All-American as he finished seventh in the 200 free. He also set school and SUNYAC records with the third fastest time posting a time of 1:38.44 in the finals.

Day 4:

Mergler swam the final race of his collegiate career this evening and made it one to remember, touching tied for fourth in the 100 free with a time of 44.11 seconds to earn his sixth All-America honor.

New Paltz

Day 1:

Sophomore swimmer Cooper Knapp finished the 200 IM final ninth earning nine points in a time of 1:48.28.

Day 2:

Knapp finished the men's 400 IM finals in sixth place with a time of 3:55.74.

Day 3:

Knapp made history winning the national championship in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 46.45 seconds and finishing sixth in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:55.74.

Fredonia

Day 1:

Sophomore diver Christian Krasnek took advantage of his opportunity rallying from 22nd place after five voluntary dives during preliminaries, finishing 16th and earned Honorable Mention All America Status in the men's 3-meter springboard diving.

MORE RESULTS

Brockport

Day 2:

Diver Meghann Kolgallon received All American status in the 1-meter dive. This was her second time earning the honor.

Day 4:

Kolgallon earned her second All-American accolade of the season in the 3-meter dive finishing 14th with a score of 409 points.
