Oswego and Brockport advance to women's lacrosse semifinals

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Two quarterfinal matches of the State University of New York (SUNYAC) women's lacrosse playoffs were completed today as Brockport and Oswego punched their tickets to the semifinals.

Brockport earned their victory in convincing fashion as they beat Buffalo State 20-7. Brockport found themselves up two goals within the first minute of the game and did not look back. After giving up a goal, the Golden Eagles scored four unanswered goals to go up 6-1. A strong first half saw Brockport obtain a ten goal lead as they led 14-4 at halftime. Multiple Golden Eagles got in on the scoring action as the ball was being facilitated well and the Brockport offense was firing on all cylinders.

The second half was more tame for Brockport compared to their prolific first half performance, but they put up enough points to extend their lead even further as they outscored the Bengals by three goals. They started out with five straght goals, to answer the three goals from Buffalo State. Brockport had one more goal in them before the game ended and their spot in the semifinal was confirmed.

Oswego got off to a similar start, scoring their opening goal less than a minute into the game. The first half of this game, however, was much closer despite Oswego jumping out to a 5-1 lead only to see the score tied up at halftime. Oneonta managed to take the lead in the beginning of the second half, but could not keep up the pace as four straight Laker goals gave Oswego the lead back and they never gave it up again as they sealed their fate earning a spot in the semifinals.
