Giordano honored with 2018-19 Dr. Sam Molnar award

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is honored to announce that Oneonta's Nicholas Giordano has been selected as the 2018-19 Dr. Sam Molnar Award winner. This distinguished annual award is given to a senior male student-athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability as voted upon by the membership body.

The men's award is named after the late Dr. Sam Molnar, who was the Director of Athletics at Potsdam for over thirty years. He also coached various sports during this period. He served as SUNYAC President during the 1962-63 and 1963-64 years.

In goal for the Red Dragons, Giordano recorded a 21-5-8 record with a 0.77 goals against average and 14 shutouts in two years with the team. In 2017 he was named to the All-SUNYAC third team as well as the USC All-Region third team. Giordano was the 2017 SUNYAC Men's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year and the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-American first team. Giordano was also recognized on the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll the past two years. He is a Chi Alpha Sigma inducte and the 2019 Oneonta athletics department Scholar Athlete of the Year. In 2018-19 he became the Founder/Owner of Giordano Goalkeeping Academy.
