Pomainville Selected 2020-21 Dr. Dolores Bogard Awardee

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors Emily Pomainville with its 2020-21 Dr. Dolores Bogard Award as nominated and voted on by the member institutions. This award is presented annually to a senior athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30.

Pomainville, a women's cross country and track & field athlete at Geneseo, finished her career as the national champion in the outdoor 1500 meter run (making a new SUNYAC and NCAA Division III record) as well as the national runner-up in the 800. She earned a 4.0 GPA in the spring semester to maintain a 3.80 cumulative GPA as an English major. This spring, Pomainville was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Women's Track Athlete of the Year, the Regional Women's Track Athlete of the Year and the SUNYAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year. She was recently recognized as the 2021 SUNYAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year and was named to the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Pomainville is also a member of Sigma Tau Delta (English honors society), was involved with the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (accepted to present, but could not attend due to COVID) and was a Great Day Geneseo research presenter in 2020 and 2021.

Dr. Dolores Bogard was an administrator and coach at Cortland for over twenty years. She served as SUNYAC President during the 1987-88 year. Click here to see past winners.
