HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State opened the game with multiple scoring chances, including multiple shots from Ali Shawish (Lackawanna/Lackawanna) and a pair of corners, but were unable to capitalize as the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
  • Brockport returned the favor with an 8-4 shots advantage in the second half including its best scoring chance in the 78th minute on a breakaway from midfield that ended with a timely save from Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley).
  • Both teams found themselves on the wrong end of yellow cards late in the contest, which led to the Bengals finishing the contest with 10 players on the pitch, as the physicality intensified.
  • The Golden Eagles had two final chances before the end of regulation, but Queen made two of his seven saves to force overtime.
  • Brockport emerged from the final intermission the more energized side and produced the game's only offense with just under three minutes left in the first overtime when a header lead to a Golden Eagles' breakaway that ended with a one-timer.
