Slow Start Hinders Pioneers Home Opener

Alfred, NY- Alfred State Women Basketball got off to a slow start as they dropped season opener against Oswego State 67-39. The Pioneers drop to 0-2 on the season.

Katelyn Curry led the way with nine points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Benjamin added seven points and nine rebounds while Taylor Searle added five points and four rebounds.

The Lakers got off to a hot start and never looked back. In the second quarter, the Pios found their groove, as the Anna Merry opened the quarter with a free throw. Taylor Searle followed with a jumper, before Jaiden Williams added one of her own. After a timeout, Kateyln Curry grabbed an offensive rebound put in a layup while getting fouled. She would hit the free throw. Then a few possessions later, Curry tallied another layup before getting a block that led to a Jenna George layup.

Oswego State held off the Pioneers attack to get their first win of the season.
