POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team continues their streak of bad luck after being downed by Clarkson University 3-2 in the tenth inning Tuesday evening at Jack Phillips Stadium.
Plattsburgh State now falls to 6-14 overall while Clarkson improves to 5-9.
Junior
PJ Weeks (Bayport, N.Y. / Bayport-Blue Point) pitched three innings without giving up a hit before Clarkson got their first hit in the fourth and two more in the fifth along with their first run that was scored on a pass ball.
Plattsburgh State recorded three hits in the first three innings.
Senior
Joe Deland (Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East) recorded the Cardinals fourth hit of the game in the sixth inning with a double that plated senior
Noah Clark (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) to tie the game.
Junior
Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) scored Plattsburgh States second run in the eighth inning off an error by the short stop to take a 2-1 lead.
Clarkson tied the game in the bottom of the eighth off a sacrifice fly and after two more inning won the game in the same fashion.
Deland was 2-for-5 at the plate including an RBI double while Clark was 1-for-4 with one run.
Weeks pitched 7 innings and scattered four hits, one run, walked two and struck out three.
Junior
Matt Fox (Shoreham, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River) pitched 2 innings and gave up three hits, two runs walked one and struck out one.
Senior
Jacob Stein (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore) pitched .2 innings and walked one.
The Cardinals are home Wednesday, April 11 to host St. Lawrence in a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
