BUFFALO, N.Y.— Allie Reeds (E. Amherst/Williamsville South) tallied her third goal of the season and Buffalo State led early, but it could not hold, suffering a 2-1 defeat to visiting Alfred University in non-conference action this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Buffalo State controlled the possession early the first half, leading to four shots and three corners in the first 30 minutes of the contest.
• The Bengals capitalized on a counter attack in the 32^nd minute as Reeds outplayed a defender and slide a shot underneath the goalie's hands to give Buffalo State a 1-0 lead at the first half whistle.
• Alfred regrouped at halftime and nearly tied the game on a shot from a free kick that hit the crossbar. The Saxons did even the score, in the 55^th minute, with a broken play that left a player wide open in front of an open net.
• Alfred tacked on a second goal in the 60^th minute to extend its lead to 2-1 and never looked back.
• Emma Krenzer (Scottsville/Aquinas) finished with three saves in her first collegiate start in goal for the Bengals.

 
FOR THE FOES

• Natalie O'Brien led the Saxons by tallying the game-winning goal and an assist on the first goal.
• Sierra Wilson also scored for Alfred, while Makenzie Cashmer finished with three saves in the win.
