Women’s Lacrosse pulls away from Medaille, 13-5

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Mary Musialowski (Lancaster/Sacred Heart) scored five times and Buffalo State used a dominant second half to pull away from visiting Medaille for a 13-5 non-conference victory today.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Julia Wachna (Syracuse/Onondaga) added three goals and two assists for the Bengals, while Erica Kennedy (Irving/Lake Shore) chipped in three goals and one assist.
  • Maddy Brzezicki (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) tallied a goal and three assists, and Kacey Stack (Blasdell/Frontier) also scored.
  • Medaille struck first in the opening minute, but the Bengals responded with four-straight goals to take a lead they would never relinquish. 
  • After trading goals to close the first half with a 7-4 lead, Buffalo State outscored the Mavericks 6-1 in the second half to pull away for the victory.
  • Buffalo State held a 33-18 advantage in shot attempts.
  • Medaille had a 12-7 edge in draw controls, but the Maverick committed 31 turnovers, compared to 24 by Buffalo State.
  • Janae Nelson (Elmont/Elmont Memorial) added eight saves while allowing five goals, before Makenna Murphy (Rochester/Hoosac) made two stops playing the final eight-plus minutes.
  • Hailey Whitney (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) led Buffalo State with five ground balls to go with three caused turnovers.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Sierra Scott and Emma Campagna scored two goals apiece for Medaille.
