Brockport Holds Off Plattsburgh to Complete Weekend Sweep

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team completed a weekend sweep at home on Saturday with a 55-51 win over Plattsburgh. Back-to-back wins at home improves Brockport's record to 8-10 overall and 5-6 in the SUNYAC.

Chelsea Henry led the team with 11 points, doing most of her damage on a 6-for-6 effort at the free throw line. Julianna Taylor and Bailey Pratt each put up 10 points in the contest. Kylee Rosbrook and Allison Chiera both snagged double-digit rebounds in the win.

The first quarter was neck and neck as the score was tied at 10-10 with 1:22 left in the period. The Green and Gold entered the second with a one-point lead and slowly built upon that advantage. A strong effort on the offensive glass created second chance points that pushed the Brockport lead to 10 points with just one-minute left until halftime. Anna Felice hit a mid-range jumper at the buzzer to give the team a 28-18 lead at the half.

The Golden Eagles played solid defense in the second, as Plattsburgh only scored eight points in the quarter.

Brockport maintained its lead in the third, holding a nine-point edge with 5:38 on the clock. A transition three from Felice gave the team its largest lead of the game at 37-25. Plattsburgh would have a quick spurt to cut the deficit to just five points with a minute left until the fourth. The visiting Cardinals climbed back into the game with some key defensive stops, and were able to take a 51-47 lead with just two minutes left in regulation. Chelsea Henry and Erin Radack both made clutch shots from downtown in crunch time to take back the lead in the final minute.

Henry made two big shots at the charity stripe as the team made two big stops down the stretch to hold on for the four-point victory.

The Golden Eagles took advantage of their trips to the foul line, going 15-for-21 in the game. Plattsburgh only made 10 attempts at the line in the contest. Brockport also made twice as many shots from beyond the arc in this one, shooting 8-for-24 from long range.

Plattsburgh's Taylor Clare finished with a double-double on 11 points and 17 boards. The Cardinals are now 6-12 overall and 3-8 in SUNYAC play.

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, as they travel for a matchup against Fredonia. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 pm.
