FROSTBURG, Md. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team dropped a tough non-conference matchup against Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-3. The Golden Eagles fall to 2-4 on the season with the loss while Frostburg improves to 3-4.
The Bobcats jumped out of the gate early, scoring the first three goals of the game and the only three of the first quarter. Brockport kept themselves within striking distance at the start of the second quarter, capitalizing on a man-up opportunity when
Patrick Sheridan took a feed from
Curtis Raymond and beat the Frostburg goalie, closing the gap to 3-1.
Frostburg scored the only other goal of the second frame, and added three more in the third and early fourth to take a commanding 7-1 lead. The Green and Gold attempted to mount a late comeback with a pair of fourth quarter goals, but fell short with the 7-3 defeat.
Liam O'Connor had the first, continuing his strong rookie campaign with his eighth goal of the season, using an assist from Raymond to convert Brockport's second man up opportunity of the day. Sheridan capped off the Golden Eagle scoring with his second goal of the day, this time beating the Bobcat goalie unassisted.
Michael Caternolo excelled in the faceoff circle, winning nine of his 14 opportunities to improve to 51-of-99 on the season.
Brockport men's lacrosse will play their final non-conference game next Saturday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m. when they host Lycoming College.
