A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta offense came out early today in defeating Clarkson University 10-4, as they earned a split of a pair of games at Salisbury University. In the second game of the day, the Red Dragons were toppled by No. 21 Salisbury.

The Inside Story
Against Clarkson, Oneonta (1-3) exploded for four runs in the top half of the second inning to break a scoreless tie.

Sophomore
Megan Palmatier (Bainbridge/Bainbridge-Guilford) led off the inning with a sharp single centerfield before being moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman
Gianna DiGiovanni (Wantagh/Sacred Heart Academy). Palmatier came in to score on a single up the middle by junior
Meaghan Raleigh (Endwell/Maine Endwell). Oneonta loaded the bases and got RBI singles from seniors
Bailey Schwark (Port Ewen/Kingston) and
Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) while classmate
Jade Meehan (Halcottsville/Roxbury Central) hit a sacrifice fly to drive in another run.

Clarkson (1-2) took advantage of a couple of Oneonta miscues in the field to score three unearned runs in the bottom of the second inning.

The Red Dragons posted single runs in the third and fifth innings to grab a 6-3 lead. Raleigh drove in her second run of the game with a single in the third while junior
Amanda Sexton (Port Jervis/Port Jervis) drove in Raleigh in the fifth with a single to right centerfield.

After the Golden Knights scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth, Oneonta's bats were active in the sixth bringing in four more runs. The big hit in the inning came off the bat of junior
Amber Badillo (Mohegan Lake/Shrub Oak) who hit a one-out double to drive in DiGiovanni and junior
Caroline Koch (New City/Clarkstown South). DiGiovanni and Koch each drove in a run with doubles to left field.

Alyssa Bluethgen (Commack/Commack) three six innings of five-hit ball striking out a pair to pick up her initial win of 2020.Â
Hunter VanArnum (Schuylerville/Schuylerville) threw a scoreless seventh in relief.

Oneonta pitching surrendered four home runs in its 9-0 loss to Salisbury in game two of the day. Six different players had a hit for the Red Dragons.

Raleigh collected three hits against Clarkson to go with her two RBIs and two runs scored. Sexton, Palmatier and DiGiovanni each had two hits.

Oneonta's next game will be its opening game of its Florida trip versus SUNY Canton. The Red Dragons will face the Roos on Monday, Mar. 9
th at 9am in Naples.
