Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Brockport takes on Cortland for Senior Day

BROCKPORT, N.Y.— In a ceremony prior to the game The College at Brockport women's soccer team honored their lone senior Maddie Siclare. Siclare was named captain going into the season and is the team's leading scorer with five goals.

The Golden eagles lost 5-1 at home on Saturday, as they hosted State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe SUNY Cortland. Brockport's record moves to 8-5-2 and 3-3-1 in SUNYAC play. The Red Dragons now sport an 8-3-3 mark and are 5-2 in conference.

The Green and Gold knocked in the first goal of the game with Molly Zientek netting her second goal of the season after a pass across the box by Siclare. The Red Dragons scored the equalizer and go-ahead goal in a six-minute span to bring the score of the game to 2-1 after 25 minutes of play. The defense picked up for Brockport and kept the score the same as the first half came to a close.

The Golden Eagles, came out stumbling in the second half and allowed two goals in six minutes to bring the score to 4-1, but did a good job of buckling down for the next 27 minutes. Cortland knocked in one more goal before the end of the game as the Green and Gold fell 5-1.

Brockport will head on the road on Friday Oct. 20 for a 3 p.m. match against Plattsburgh State.
