Swim & Dive Teams Drop Home Openers to RIT

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving teams began their 2019-20 campaigns against RIT at home on Wednesday night. Walker Snowden was part of three first place wins for the Lakers in the men's loss while Meghan Maquet claimed first as the women fell.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the seventh event, Snowden touched the wall faster than the other 11 swimmers, clocking a 50-yard free victory in 21.73.
  • A few events later, the junior was at it again, this time in the 100-yard fly. Snowden swam a time of 54.28 for a narrow 0.32 victory in yet another 12-person event.
  • The Tallahasee, Fla. native's hat trick of victories came as part of the 200-yard free relay. Snowden joined teammates Alexander Davie, Nick Weber and Ryan Kreuser for a victory by more than a second over their RIT counterparts (1:27.60).
  • On the women's side, Maquet had the lone Laker victory on the 1-meter diving board. The senior was one of just two divers to score more than 200 points, posting a 212.55. That score was more than eight points better than the next closest competitor.

Oswego will remain at home to face Oneonta at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
