Fort Myers, FL. The SUNY Oneonta baseball team offense flourished in a sweep over Finlandia today. In the first game, the Red Dragons knocked the ball around for 23 runs on 22 hits. In the second game, the Red Dragons continued to overpower the Lions with nine runs scored off of 11 hits.
In the first game, freshman
John Zinko (Wallkill/Wallkill) rounded the bases twice with two home runs. He also scored two runs while knocking in five runs. Freshman
Jonathan Lent (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East) had his first collegiate home run and also scored two runs while knocking in three. Senior
Donald Geloso (Staten Island/Monsignor Farrell) also had a solo home run. Freshman Michael Dunn pitched four innings and earned his first collegiate win.
In the second game, the Red Dragons beat the Lions 9-5. The come from behind victory was aided by multi-hit games from
Brandon Torres (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury),
Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) and
Dalton Beatty (Atwater, CA/Atwater). Junior
Dominic Lamonica (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and junior
Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) each drove in a pair of runs.
The Red Dragons wrap up its Florida trip with a SUNYAC series against Plattsburgh on Saturday March 10
th and Sunday 11
th.
