CORTLAND, N.Y. -
Nick Galeto (West Islip) and
Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) each won two events and
Eric Kohlhoff (West Islip) and
Patrick Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) each recorded one win as Cortland opened its men's swimming and diving dual-meet season with a 187-111 loss to visiting Ithaca.
Galeto captured the 100-yard backstroke (54.48) and 200-yard backstroke (2:03.28) and Bernhardt won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:28.01) and 500-yard freestyle (5:01.97). Kohlhoff took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (23.08).
Conway won 1-meter diving with a score of 224.00 points and was second on the 3-meter board with 225.90 points.
Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park) placed second in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.91) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.92).
Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes) was runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle (50.01) and
Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) finished second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.54).
Cortland finished second in both relays. Galeto, Cornelia,
Billy Donlevy (Bayside/Holy Cross) and Kohlhoff were clocked in 3:41.33 in the 400-yard medley relay. Galeto, Bernhardt,
Jann Santiago (San Juan, PR/Canandaigua Academy (NY)) and Kohlhoff covered the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:32.95.
Cortland will compete in a dual meet at Geneseo next Saturday at 1 p.m.
