ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Eight different players scored at least one goal and the nationally seventh-ranked Cortland men's lacrosse team netted nine of the last 11 goals in the game to earn a 13-6 non-conference victory at Nazareth College Thursday afternoon in a game moved up one day to impending inclement weather. The Red Dragons improved to 2-0, while the Golden Flyers fell to 0-2.

Terrence Haggerty (Centerport/Harborfields) led Cortland with three goals. Junior

Thomas McNaney (Marcellus) tallied a game-high four points with Panariello recording two goals and two assists and McNaney picking up one goal and three assists. Graduate student

Liam Erickson (Brewster) and juniors
Dean Riley (Homer) and
Mike McNaney (Marcellus) each contributed one goal and one assist.

Joe Scalise (Fairport) made eight saves and collected three ground balls for the Red Dragons. Sophomore
Brian Williams (Holtsville/Sachem East) won 14-of-17 faceoffs and secured a game-high nine ground balls. Freshman
Jacob Rivers (Homer) caused three turnovers, and Haggerty and senior
Liam Rafferty (Long Beach) scooped up three ground balls apiece.
Jeremy Jacob paced Nazareth with three goals. Paul Walter added one goal and two assists, Myles Young recorded one goal and one assist, Jack Crowley netted a goal and Chris Murphy chipped in with two assists. Alex Winkler started in goal, making seven saves in the first half. Andrew Leahey stopped four shots in the second half and collected three ground balls.
Cortland took a 4-2 lead after the first quarter as Beresovoy scored his two goals and Panariello notched his two assists. Nazareth tied the game at 4-4 midway through the second quarter, but the Red Dragons ended the half with goals from
Thomas McNaney, Panariello and Haggerty to take a 7-4 lead at the break.
Walters' goal less than two minutes into the third quarter cut the Cortland advantage to 7-5. The Red Dragons, however, closed the quarter with four consecutive goals, two from Phelps, to build a comfortable 11-5 lead. Panariello made it a 12-5 score at 13:47 of the fourth quarter before Jacob netted his third of the game at 7:28 and Erickson finished the scoring off a feed from Riley at 4:42 for the 13-6 final.
