Second-Half Goals Lead to 2-0 Win at Plattsburgh for #8 Red Dragons

Box Score PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The nationally eighth-ranked Cortland men's soccer team improved to 10-1 overall and 4-0 in the SUNYAC with a 2-0 victory at Plattsburgh Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals fell to 8-3 and 2-1 with the loss.

Freshman Jake Kaufman (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) and sophomore Cam LaVallee (Schenectady/Schalmont) scored goals for Cortland. Sophomore Miguel Tunas (North Salem) recorded an assist. Senior goalie Connor Young (Bayport/Bayport-Bluepoint) made one save in posting his third consecutive shutout and seventh of the season for the Red Dragons. Goalie Patrick Feeley stopped one shot for Plattsburgh.

After a scoreless first half, Kaufman gave the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute with his second goal of the season. On a set piece, Tunas served a pass into the box that Kaufman headed past Feeley. LaVallee added an insurance goal just over seven minutes later, scoring his fifth goal of the season into the far corner from the elbow of the six-yard box. The Cardinals managed three shots from that point, but all three attempts were blocked by Cortland defenders.
