Fredonia, NY. The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team opens up SUNYAC pool play with victories over both SUNY Cortland and Buffalo State. The Red Dragons went 2-1 with their only loss coming to SUNY Brockport. The Red Dragons are now 7-9 overall on the season and 2-1 in the SUNYAC.
The Red Dragons beat their foe Red Dragons (Cortland) to open pool play on Friday. Oneonta won on a straight set, 3-0. In the match
Meghan Keyes (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) and
Victoria Moulder (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) led Oneonta in kills with nine kills apiece. Sophomore
Lindsay Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) had a match high 14 digs and classmate
Jessica Fowler (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) had 32 assists.
The opening game on day two took place at noon against Buffalo State. The Red Dragons made quick work of Buffalo State, in the same fashion as Cortland, beating them in a straight set. The leaders for Oneonta were Moulder with eight kills, Fowler with 30 assists and Pelaccio with 12 digs. Senior
Justine Abbate (Massapequa/Massapequa) also had eight kills and eight assists.
In the last match, the Red Dragons fell in a straight set to Brockport. Brockport improved to 8-7 and 2-0 in SUNYAC. Senior
Melissa Voyer (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) had a team high nine kills and
Katelyn McDonough (Guilderland/Guilderland) had eight digs.
