FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Chatham's Chris Lutz scored with 1:47 left in regulation in an eventual 2-2 men's hockey tie Saturday night with Fredonia at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
The Cougars (0-3-1) pulled their goaltender in favor of an extra attacker before Lutz put home a loose puck to the left of Blue Devil senior goaltender
Nick Harper (Baldwinsville, N.Y.).
Until Lutz scored, Blue Devil freshman winger
Colin Valentine (Turnersville, N.Y.) was in line for the game-winning goal. His shot off a goal-crease scramble put Fredonia on top, 2-1, at 11:39 of the third period. It was Valentine's first collegiate goal.
After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals in the second. Johan Allingmon scored for the Cougars at 10:48 before freshman center
Josh Biasillo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) knotted it up at 1-1 with his second goal of the season at 17:17. His shot from the right of the crease came after a point shot by sophomore defenseman Brandon Spoognardi (Warrington, Pa.) which freshman winger
Victor Tracy (Stockholm, Sweden) deflected in front of the net.
Chatham goaltender Matt Calas made 59 saves to earn the No. 1 star, Valentine earned the No. 2, and Lutz the No. 3.
Harper finished with 26 saves in the Fredonia net.
