No. 13 Men’s Soccer rips Alfred in regular season finale, 3-0

ALFRED, N.Y.—Nationally-No. 13-ranked Buffalo State extended its unbeaten streak to 15 games in dominating fashion, blowing past host Alfred University, 3-0, in today's non-conference regular-season finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Barak Benyehuda (Syracuse/Westhill) opened the scoring for Buffalo State with his second goal of the season in the 34th minute.
  • Robert Williamson (Fishkill/John Jay) added his third goal of the season in the 43rd minute off an assist from Luke Pavone (Rochester/Churchville-Chili).
  • Josh Beshaw (Lockport/Lockport) extended the lead in the 48th minute with his first goal as a Bengal and Buffalo State coasted to the victory from there.
  • Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) and Sergio Lopez (N. Massapequa/Farmingdale) combined for the shutout.  Queen made one save in the first 76 minutes, before Lopez closed the game.
  • Buffalo State outshot Alfred, 15-6, including 8-1 on goal.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Chris Gutierrez finished with five saves for the Saxons.
 
NOTEWORTHY
  • Buffalo State moved up one spot in the United Soccer Coaches national poll this week to No. 13.
  • The Bengals have not conceded a goal in 558 minutes and four seconds of playing time dating back to a 2-1 victory over Oswego on Oct. 6.
  • Buffalo State is 12-0-3 during its single-season record-setting 15-game unbeaten streak.
  • Buffalo State's 14 wins matches the second-highest total in school history, just one win shy of the school record of 15 set in 1982.
  • The Bengals matched a school record set in 1982 with 11 team shutouts.
