BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Dylan Shapiro was involved in all three goals as the Brockport men's hockey team defeated Cortland, 3-1, in SUNYAC action Friday night. With the loss, the Red Dragons dropped to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles improved to 6-3-1 and 3-1-1.
Sophomore
Sean Perichak (Oakville, ON/Markham Royals) netted an unassisted goal for Cortland. Senior goalie
Drew Weigman (Annapolis, MD/Northern Cyclones) registered 23 saves.
Shapiro ended with two goals and one assist for Brockport. Davis Horan also scored a goal, and Ryan Romeo and Aidan Verbeke each chipped in with an assist. Goalie Matt Schneider stopped 26 shots.
The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 lead after the first period on Horan's goal at 9:43 and Shapiro's first score at 14:33. Perichak cut into the lead at 10:38 of the second period, but Shapiro netted a power-play goal at 17:41 to put Brockport ahead, 3-1. In the third period, Cortland pulled Weigman for an extra skater late but failed to capitalize.
