Oneonta, NY. The Red Dragons fell in their season opener 1-0 to the Utica Pioneers on All College Field today. The Red Dragons fought valiantly out shooting their opponent 15-12. The Red Dragons kept the pressure in the offensive third as they had 15 corners compared to the Pioneers five.

In the first half, the Red Dragons Alise Anson (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) had an opportunity to put the Red Dragons up a goal, but a great defensive save by Jordan Noga kept the game knotted at zero.

The lone goal of the game came off of Utica's Jenny Robbins stick in the second half at 55:22. The goal was assisted by Joanna Gaertner. Robbins redirected Gaertners shot to sneak the ball just inside the left post to break the 0-0 tie.

For the Red Dragons Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) had eight saves and for the Pioneers Samantha Whitehouse had 10 saves.  

The Red Dragons are back in action against the St. Lawrence Saints tomorrow at 11:30am on All College Field.
