New Paltz holds off Bears, 10-6

NEW PALTZ, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse (4-9, 1-4 SUNYAC) made a late push, but fell short at SUNY New Paltz (5-7, 1-5) by a 10-6 score. Sophomore midfielder Alli Stark (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) scored twice for the Bears.

Stark and sophomore attack Lane Perl (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) opened the scoring with goals at 24:01 and 19:14. The Hawks answered with four straight to close the half. Ashley Seitler and Emily Puciloski struck at 12:32 and 8:39 to tie the game. Tara Bovich put New Paltz up 3-2 at 6:28 and Amy Hofer closed the scoring 12 seconds later.

Jennifer O'Leary scored the Hawks first two goals of the second half at 28:58 and 24:13 sandwiched around Stark's second of the contest at 26:49. O'Leary's second goal ignited another 4-0 run. Seitler buried the next two at 21:09 and 13:51. Hofer extended the lead to 9-3 on her second with 11:58 to play. Just over four minutes later, sophomore midfielder Alexa Ferrer (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) started a 3-0 Potsdam run with a goal at 8:27. Junior midfielder Cayla O'Connor (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) netted her team-leading 23rd goal of the season at 6:37. At 5:22, sophomore midfielder Sam Mace (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C.
