LEESBURG, Fla. – The Augsburg University softball team dropped a pair of games at the Spring Games on Sunday morning, falling to Smith College (Mass.) 9-3 and the State University of New York at New Paltz 11-3 at Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.

GAME 1 VS SMITH HIGHLIGHTS
• Smith got on the board first, scoring the first eight runs of the game between the first and fifth innings to take an 8-0 lead.
• The Auggie offense woke up in the fifth inning with
Kayla Hanson (SR, St. James, Minn./St. James HS) scoring on a
Sabriya Passmore (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) triple, Passmore scoring on a fielding error, and
Katie Manecke (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) scoring on a single from
Meredith Taylor (FY, Randolph, Minn./Randolph HS).
• Smith would add an insurance run in both the sixth and seventh innings and hold the Auggies scoreless the rest of the way for the 10-3 win.

Olivia O'Connor (SO, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) pitched a complete game for Augsburg, striking out six and walking three while allowing 12 hits and five earned runs in 7.0 innings.
• Passmore,
Katie Manecke (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), and Taylor each recorded RBIs for Augsburg with Passmore going two-for-four and Taylor going two-for-three.
GAME 2 VS NEW PALTZ HIGHLIGHTS
• Passmore got the Auggies on the board first in their second game of the day, scoring on a passed ball in the first inning.
• The New Paltz bats exploded in the second inning, scoring six straight runs to take a 6-1 lead.

Bella Kallas (SR, Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) scored another run for the Auggies in the fourth inning on a New Paltz throwing error.
• The Hawks added two more runs in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to walk off with the eight-run rule victory in five innings.

Saryn Sherrell (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) pitched all 4.2 innings for the Auggies, striking out three and walking 10 while allowing six hits and six earned runs.
FOR THE FOES
• Cece Alaniz was two-for-four with an RBI and a run scored for Smith.
• Jillian Shelbourne went two-for-three with two RBIs and a run scored for New Paltz.
