Troy, NY. The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team dropped its regular season finale to RPI today in penalty strokes, 1-0. The Red Dragons finished the regular season with a record of 13-5 and the Engineers improved to 5-12.

In the first half, the Red Dragons led by four penalty corners 8-4 but the Engineers outshot Oneonta, 8-5. In the first half, sophomore Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) had three saves and Rachel Kaufman for RPI also had three saves.

In the second half, Oneonta took advantage in shots with seven to RPIs three but could not find the back of the cage. After 100 minutes of play the game came down to penalty strokes to find a winner.

Both teams were unsuccessful on their first shots, but RPI broke the ice when Mikaela DiBello found the back of the cage. Oneonta's Allyson Bilow (Webster/Webster Thomas) answered, but Kate Batzinger followed with an RPI tally and Rachel Kaufman denied the Red Dragons' final shooter for the win.

The Red Dragons match up next against SUNY New Paltz in the first round of the SUNYAC field hockey tournament. The game will take place on All College Field on November 1^st, at 4:00pm.
