The SUNY Oneonta softball team traveled to the North Country this weekend and managed a split of a pair of doubleheaders versus Potsdam and Plattsburgh. The Red Dragons finished the regular season 19-13 overall and earned the No. 3 seed for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament that begins this Thursday at top-seeded Geneseo. Be sure to check

Potsdam Recap
Yesterday at Potsdam, Oneonta took game 1, 9-1 in five innings but couldn't hold its lead in game 2 falling 5-4.

Freshman
Caroline Koch (New City/Clarkstown South) and sophomore
Bailey Schwark (Port Ewen/Kingston) paced the offense in the first game each collecting three hits. Koch drove in three runs while also scoring a pair.

The big inning for the Red Dragons was the fourth where they posted four runs to open up a 7-1 lead. Both Koch and sophomore
Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) each hit RBI singles to drive in two runs.

Sophomore
Alyssa Bluethgen (Commack/Commack) extended her winning streak to six games striking out four and allowing only four hits and an unearned run.

In game 2, the Red Dragons carried a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh where Potsdam rallied with two outs to take a 5-4 victory. Koch had another three-hit game and classmate
Kristen Collins (Hicksville/Holy Trinity) had a two-hit game.

Plattsburgh Recap
After falling in game 1 today against Plattsburgh, 9-4, Oneonta bounced back in a big way 15-6 in game 2 to earn a split. The Red Dragons pounded out 16 hits in game 2 and Bluethgen won again raising her season record to 12-5.

Collins collected four hits in game 2 and scored four runs. Junior
Dana Del Genio (New Hartford/New Hartford) collected three hits including a double and a triple and drove in four runs. Corbett and junior
Lauren Sabatino (Bayville/Locust Valley) each had three hits. Sabatino drove in a pair while Corbett had one run batted in.

The Red Dragons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning. After Corbett scored on a wild pitch, Sabatino cracked a double to left center to drive in Del Genio and
Jade Meehan (Halcottsville/Roxbury Central). Sabatino scored the final run of the inning on a wild pitch.

The Red Dragons added a single run in the third and five more in the fourth to extend its lead to 10-1.Â
Amanda Sexton (Port Jervis/Port Jervis) plated the first two runs of the inning with a double to left field. Del Genio's triple scored the final two runs of the inning.

Cori McFall (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) hit an RBI single to drive in a run while two more runs came in to score on bases loaded walks.
