No. 12 Geneseo shuts down Women’s Lacrosse, 20-4

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Nationally-ranked No. 12 Geneseo held Buffalo State scoreless in the first half en route to a 20-4 victory in today's SUNYAC contest on Coyer Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) and Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) each finished with a goal and an assist to pace the Bengals.
  • Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) and Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) also scored for Buffalo State.
  • Geneseo took control in the first half, netting the game's first 12 goals to close the half and pushed the lead to 13-0 with 26 minutes remaining in the second half.
  • Buffalo State responded with back-to-back goals by Hogue on the free-position attempt and Dufresne to cut the lead to 13-2 with 18 minutes left in the contest.
  • Following four-consecutive goals by Geneseo, the Bengals tallied a pair of goals from Skuse with seven minutes left and Schaefer with five minutes remaining to complete their scoring.
  • The Knights scored three goals in the last three minutes to claim the win.
  • Geneseo held a 39-9 advantage in shots and an 18-7 advantage in draw controls.
  • Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) was credited with the loss in the net, making eight saves in 60 minutes of work. 

FOR THE FOES
  • Rachel Fisher finished with five goals to lead the Knights.
  • Tessa Doody and Hannah Marafioti each tallied two goals and an assist respectively.
  • Tess McFadden picked up the win in the net for Geneseo, making four saves in 49 minutes of action.
