ITHACA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team dropped their final contest of the season against Ithaca College Saturday afternoon, losing 6-2. The Golden Eagles finish their season with a final record of 4-14, where the Bombers move to 7-10.
The Green and Gold stumbled early as Ithaca netted two goals within the first two minutes of play. Brockport fell further behind as the Bombers notched three more goals in in the 9th, 18th, and 25th minute. The Golden Eagles trailed 5-0 heading into the halftime break.
Brockport wasted no time getting the offense rolling in the second half as
Kaitlin Croghan connected on a pass from
Margo Tremaine to trim the lead to 5-1. Minutes later, the Golden Eagles doubled their goals as
Jenna Croce tallied a goal with the assist from Croghan, to set the score at 5-2. The Gold Eagles brought constant pressure throughout the second half but slipped late in the game as the Bombers added another goal to beat Brockport by a final score of 6-2.
Sarah Beam finished the game with an impressive 17 saves in the cage.
This game concluded the Brockport field hockey 2017 season, but will return a wealth of talent that brings a bright future for the program.
