Women’s Lacrosse clobbers Fredonia in SUNYAC opener, 23-9

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) tallied a career-high seven goals as Buffalo State reached the 20-goal plateau for the third time this season in a 23-9 win over visiting Fredonia in tonight's conference opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dufresne paced the Bengals' attack with nine points.
  • Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) finished with six goals and two assists, and Ally Ruggieri (Brockport/Brockport) chipped in three goals and five assists.
  • Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) had two goals and four assists, while Christina Krowel (Amseterdam/B.H.-B.L.) and Kayla Rose (Lancaster/Lancaster) scored three goals and one goal respectively.
  • Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) scored a goal and added two assists.
  • Five different Buffalo State players scored in the first 13 minutes of the game to give the Bengals an 8-1 lead at the 17:09 mark of the first half.

  • Madeline Haney, Emily Ellis, Casey Villagomez and Alli Coon all scored for the Blue Devils.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Buffalo State's 23 goals were the most in a game in program history.
  • The victory earns Buffalo State two points in the season-long "Battle by the Lake" competition between the two schools. Fredonia currently leads 17-9.
