FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team ended their SUNYAC season on Saturday with two losses to Fredonia each due to walk off singles.
Plattsburgh State drops to 10-23 overall and finishes the conference 2-16 while Fredonia moves to 17-12 and 7-10 in the SUNYAC.
GAME ONE: Plattsburgh State 6, Fredonia 7
Sophomore
Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs and one RBI while junior
Jon Craft (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West) was also 2-for-4 with one RBI and sophomore
Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) went 2-for-3 with one run.
Fredonia took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first but the Cardinals recorded three runs in the second to take a one-run edge.
Freshman
Anthony Maag (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) singled up the middle to plate Kowalowski, Maag scored off a double from Bryant and Bryant scored off a single from senior
Joe Deland (Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East).
Senior
Noah Clark (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) scored off an error in the top of the third and Fredonia countered with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.
Fredonia recorded two more one-run singles in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-4 advantage.
Bryant scored off an error and Deland scored off a sacrifice bunt from Craft to take the lead back.
Fredonia tied the game 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh and hit a walk off single to left field in the bottom of the ninth to take the win.
Junior
Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) pitched six inning and gave up nine hits, five runs, walked two and struck out two.
Senior
Jacob Stein (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore) pitched two innings and scattered four hits, two runs and walked one.
GAME TWO: Plattsburgh 2, Fredonia 3
Plattsburgh State was leading 2-0 after sophomore
Alex Follmer (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) scored off an error in the third and Maag stole home in the fifth.
Fredonia scored one in the sixth off an RBI single, tied if in the seventh off a sacrifice fly and won it with another walk off single.
Junior
Frank Finkbeiner (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) pitched 6.2 innings and gave up five hits, three runs, walked two and struck out five.
Plattsburgh State is away Monday, April 30 to play SUNY Canton in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m.
