NEW PALTZ, N.Y.—
Ali Shawish (Lackawanna/Lackawanna) tallied his fourth goal of the season in the 80
th minute to lift visiting Buffalo State to its first SUNYAC victory with a 1-0 win over New Paltz today in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zakaria Shaibi (Buffalo/McKinley) earned his second assist of the season on the lone goal.
- New Paltz held the Bengals without a shot in the first half, but could not break through on its seven shots as the game remained scoreless at the halftime whistle.
- Buffalo State found some life in the opening minutes of the second half as Robert Williamson (Fishkill/John Jay) had two shots go wide in the span of five minutes.
- The Bengals finally broke through in the 80th minute as Shaibi sent a through ball across from the left side that found the feet of Shawish, who buried a shot in the upper left corner to give Buffalo State a 1-0 lead.
- The Hawks had two final chances to tie the game late but could not even the score as Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) made two of his six saves to preserve the shutout.
