Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Justin Summers Comes Up with Huge Block, Brockport Defeats #25 Oswego at Home

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team got revenge on #25 Oswego State on Friday night from last year's loss in the SUNYAC Title game. Brockport defeated the Lakers 68-67, thanks to a block as time expired from star Justin Summers.

The Golden Eagles advance to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference behind a career-high 27 points from Jahidi Wallace.

Justin Summers notched a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards, while proving why he is the program's all-time blocks leader with six on the night. Tyler Collins continuously found the open man finishing with seven assists to go with 10 points.

Jahidi Wallace got the excitement started in the first half with a posterizing dunk for the first basket of the game for Brockport. He would have a strong start in this one, putting up nine first half points.

Malick Sylla shot 3-for-4 in the opening half, scoring seven before halftime. The Golden Eagles would push their lead to as many as 12 points, but Oswego closed the gap going into the locker rooms down 36-32.

The second half was close the entire way, containing seven ties and five lead changes down the stretch. Wallace scored 18 of his career-high 27 points in the second half, shooting an incredible 10-for-12 from the floor in the game and 2-for-3 from deep.

Jahidi made a big free throw with 8 seconds remaining to take a one-point lead, but Oswego had the last possession with a chance to win it. Colby Moultrie drove to the basket for the game-winning layup, but Justin Summers sent the shot out of bounds as time ran out.

After falling to the Lakers 55-50 in last year's conference championship game, the Golden Eagles opened up SUNYAC play this season with the 68-67 win at home over Oswego. They have now won four games in a row and begin conference play the right way.

Brockport is back at home Saturday for more conference action, as the team welcomes the Red Dragons from Cortland. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 pm.
