Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Brockport picks up 3-0 shutout over Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team picked up a strong road win on Tuesday, bypassing Alfred University 3-0.

The Golden Eagles improve to 5-1-1 in 2017 while the Saxons fall to 2-4-1 on the season.

The match proved to be a close one in the opening frame, with neither team able to work in a shot in the first half. Brockport proved to be dominant on offense however, as the Golden Eagles fired off 15 first half shots, while the defense stepped up big, not letting up a single Saxon attempt in the half.

The Green and Gold went to work in the second half, notching their first goal of the contest just five minutes into play. Maddie Siclare found the back of the net in the 50th minute, breaking the scoring seal for the Golden Eagles. Alexa Biegler added the insurance goal in the 68th minute, while Karleigh Stefanidis worked in the third Green and Gold goal to post the 3-0 win.

"Tonight was one of our most difficult challenges," remarked Brockport front man Mike Idland.  "Breaking down a team that is committed to keeping 10 to 11 players behind the ball low on the field is extremely challenging. We were patient and smart, and the players found the solution to a tough problem."

Brockport's tough defense was orchestrated by Kimberly Lubanski, who saw 45 minutes in goal for the Green and Gold, en route to the win. Molly Graves also saw action in goal for Brockport, with 45 minutes in action and making one save.

Brockport outmatched their counterparts in several categories including shots (27-1) and corners (6-0).

The Golden Eagles will return to action as they open State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play this weekend on the road against Fredonia on Sept. 22 and Buffalo State on Sept. 23.
