OSWEGO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (9-9, 1-3 SUNYAC) fell to host Oswego State (8-10, 2-2) 3-1 on the first day of the second weekend of SUNYAC Pool Play. Senior captain
Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) led the Bears with 13 kills and 20 digs.
The Bears outlasted the Lakers in set one, 26-24. Oswego answered with 25-18, 25-21 and 25-22 wins to seize the match. Senior outside hitter
Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) recorded seven kills and a block. Freshman middle hitter
Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) registered a personal best seven kills and freshman middle hitter
Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) had a career-high six kills along with an ace and three digs. Senior captain
Kelsea Healis (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate) totaled five kills, an ace and nine digs, while junior defensive specialist
Maddie Kaplan (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru) finished with nine digs. Junior captain
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) contributed 33 assists, four aces and 17 digs and senior defensive specialist
Whitney Coyle (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) added 10 digs.
Potsdam is back in action at noon tomorrow, when the Bears face Fredonia. They then close the weekend against Oneonta at 2:30 p.m.
