BUFFALO, N.Y.—Nationally-ranked No. 9 Geneseo avenged a 1-0 loss to Buffalo State on the same field in last year's SUNYAC title game by dealing the Bengals a 5-0 defeat in today's SUNYAC opener at Coyer Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo opened the scoring just 2:50 into the contest with a header back post off of a corner kick, but the Bengals regrouped and played the Knights even for the remainder of the first half.
- Geneseo emerged from the intermission looking like the No. 9-ranked team in the nation, striking quickly in the 48th minute and then pushed the lead to 3-0 just 28 seconds later.
- The Knights scored again less than five minutes later and added a final tally in the 86th minute.
- After holding just a 4-3 edge in shots in the first half, Geneseo finished the game with a 16-5 shots advantage.
- Taylor Carillo (Pine Bush/Pine Bush) finished with one save and four goals against in 59 minutes, before giving way to Nicole Torres (Wantagh/MacArthur) who allowed one goal and made one stop.
FOR THE FOES
- Audrey Reid led five different goal scorers for Geneseo with a goal and two assists.
- Ellie Gregory, Leah Greene, Domenica Piccoli and Julia Ophas also scored for the Knights.
