PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.- Senior
Madeline Saccocio (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schalmont) scored her seventh goal of the season in Plattsburgh State's 4-1 loss to Saint Lawrence Tuesday night at the Field House Complex.
Saccocio's goal came in the 37
th minute off a penalty kick when the Saints were called on a hand ball violation.
Plattsburgh State led 1-0 at halftime despite Saint Lawrence out-shooting the Cardinals.
Saint Lawrence controlled the majority of the second half, out-shooting Plattsburgh State 14-7 and scoring four goals.
The Saints tied the game five minutes into the second half when Rachel Muskin put the ball into the bottom left corner off a cross.
Their second goal came in the 61
st minute when Kaleigh White put the ball into the bottom right corner off a through ball.
Muskin scored the Saints third goal with a shot from 25 yards out that found the top left corner.
Julia Mulhern scored Saint Lawrence's last goal off a corner kick in the 71
st minute to secure the Saints fifth win.
Nichole Gibson (Arkport, N.Y. / Arkport) played strong defense in goal making incredible plays. Gibson recorded eight saves in her 90:00 minutes of play.
The Cardinals are now 4-3 for the season while the Saints move to 5-2.
Plattsburgh State is on the road Saturday to play SUNY Potsdam at 1 p.m. for their first conference game of the season.
