Golden Eagles Make it Five in a Row with Win over Geneseo

Geneseo, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team extended its win streak to five games with its 77-62 road win over Geneseo. Brockport advances to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in SUNYAC play.
 
Tyler Collins led the way with 16 points, shooting 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. Collins also came up with a career-high six steals on defense. Jahidi Wallace scored 14 points on a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the field. Devante Hagins was the third player to reach double figures, finishing with 10 points and six boards.
 
The game was tight throughout the first half, with the score tied 31-31 with less than five minutes remaining until halftime. A quick spurt from the Golden Eagles gave them an eight-point lead with just under two minutes left in the period. Brockport's strong close to the half was capped off by a buzzer beater from downtown giving the team a 46-37 edge.
 
The Green and Gold took an 11-point lead early on in the second half and would maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way. Brockport cruised to a 15-point win on the road thanks to controlling the painted area and consistent contributions from the bench. The team outscored Geneseo 46-32 in the paint and received 29 points from the reserve players.
 
Brockport shot 50% from the floor in the contest, going 30-for-60 with 16 assists as a team. Danny Ashley had five steals defensively, while Tyree Grimsley tallied nine points and six boards. Antonio Alvarez snagged a team-high seven rebounds in the game.
 
Geneseo's Michael Gannon led all scorers with 28 points, as the Knights fall to 5-10 overall and 2-6 in the SUNYAC.
 
The Golden Eagles are back on the court on Tuesday, January 28th for another road game. They travel to take on Buffalo State for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
