WILKES-BARRE, PA.—The SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (0-1) rallied from an early deficit before falling to King's College (2-0) 12-10 in its season opener. The Monarchs got off to a quick start, scoring the contest's first four goals in the opening 7:03. Amanda Carroll scored twice during the span for King's. Potsdam started to battle back at 19:53. Sophomore attack Ashley Burrowes (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) set up freshman attack Zoe Morgenroth's (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) first collegiate goal to ignite a Bears' 4-0 run. O'Connor closed the gap to 4-2 at 14:31 with an assist from Stark. Huntley then set up fellow senior captain Morgan Cook's (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) first of the season at 10:16 before O'Connor tied the game a 4-4 on a free-position goal 25 seconds later. Kendra McCoy and Carroll answered for the Monarchs and King's went back up 6-4 with 5:02 left in the half. Potsdam countered with a 5-0 run that would carry into the second half. O'Connor notched her third of the contest at 3:48 and junior midfielder Meaghan Paige (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) tied the game at the buzzer with another helper from Huntley.

Paige gave Potsdam its first lead of the contest at 21:17 of the second half with an assist from O'Connor. Huntley scored her first of the season at 19:33 to give Bears an 8-6 advantage. Stark connected with Huntley at 18:43 to make it 9-6. However, King's charged back with a 6-0 run. Anastasia Araviakis and Carroll each scored twice as the Monarch's built a 12-9 lead with 3:39 left. Stark halted the momentum with a free-position marker with 1:55 on the clock, but Potsdam couldn't get any closer.

Bears junior goalie Katie Longamore (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) finished with eight saves, while Orla Cottell made just three saves and earned the win.

With her three assists, Huntley moved passed Hall of Famer Alisha Schaad-Waite '08 and Maribeth Simmons '12 for sole possession of eighth place on the program's assists list.
