PLATTSBURGH, N.Y – The Oswego State men's soccer team narrowly fell to conference foe Plattsburgh with a score of 4-3 on Friday. With the loss, the Lakers move to 6-3-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the SUNYAC while the Cardinals improve to 8-2-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in the conference.
Just over six minutes into the game, midfielder
Connor Lunduski gave the Lakers an early lead when he shot the ball into the right corner of the net for the game's first goal. The senior led both teams with four shots during the game.
Later in the game, with Plattsburgh up 2-1, the Lakers were able to tie it up. This time it was Rochester native
Jason Siracuse with the goal, his fourth of the season.
The Cardinals took a 4-2 lead on a penalty kick and a mistake by the Lakers, but Siracuse contributed to the Lakers once more. Just over a minute before the game ended, Siracuse fed the ball to
Caleb Asamoah, who took the shot from the center of the 18-yard box. The sophomore's goal was good, tying him
Hassan Musa for a team-leading seven goals this season.
On Saturday, the Lakers travel to Potsdam for more conference action. Oswego faces the Bears at 1 p.m.
