Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior Madeline Saccocio (Schenectady/Schalmont) scored her 10th and 11th goals of the season to lead the Plattsburgh women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Cortland Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action at the Stadium Complex.

Junior Brenna Conover (Smithtown/Hauppauge) scored her team-high sixth goal of the season for the Red Dragons (5-2-3, 2-2 SUNYAC). Freshman goalie Danika Svendsen (Stillwater) made three saves in the first half before giving way to junior Abby Miller (Andover), who stopped four shots in the second half.

Sophomore Katie Matott (Rouses Point/Northeastern Clinton) also netted a goal for the Cardinals (6-3-1, 2-0-1). Sophomores Rachael Moran (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) and Sarah Bonner (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) each collected an assist. Junior goalie Nichole Gibson (Arkport) registered one save.

Plattsburgh controlled much of the play in the first half and eventually grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute on Matott's one-touch goal deep in the box after Svendsen made a save on Moran's initial shot. Less than five minutes later, Saccocio tallied her first goal of the game to make it a 2-0 score. Bonner served a free kick into the box where Saccocio controlled the ball, turned and sent a shot past Svendsen from 10 yards away. Conover cut Cortland's deficit to 2-1 in the 44th minute, converting a penalty kick after a Red Dragon was taken down in the box.

Cortland pressed in the early stages of the second half with the pressure leading to a second penalty-kick attempt for Conover in the 64th minute. Gibson, however, denied the shot and Plattsburgh cleared the rebound away. Saccocio sealed the win in the 79th minute when she scored on a penalty kick of her own for the 3-1 final.
