Women’s Volleyball falls to Nazareth, RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y.— Buffalo State suffered two more losses to finish off the RIT Invitational this afternoon, falling in four sets to Nazareth before dropping a straight-sets loss to host RIT in non-conference action.
 
MATCH #1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State and Nazareth matched each other point-for-point in the first set until the Golden Flyers used a 4-0 run to take a 21-17 lead.
  • The momentum shifted following a service error by Nazareth as the Bengals closed the set on an 8-2 run fueled by aces from Abby Mosher (Little Falls/Little Falls) and Jordan McKenna (Tonawanda/Kenmore East).
  • The Golden Flyers used a 12-1 run in the second set and a 17-4 run in the third frame to cruise to a 25-12 win in each of the sets.
  • Buffalo State survived an early 13-3 run by Nazareth in the final set to close the gap to 24-23 following a pair of attack errors by the Golden Flyers. Nazareth would claim the next point to complete the win.
  • Bryanna Fisher (Brooklyn/Midwood) led the Bengals' offense with seven kills and chipped in five block assists.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Delaney Martin led the Golden Flyers with 13 kills and chipped in three digs.
  • Kelsey Milligan and Carmen Sapp each tallied 12 kills and a hitting percentage over .400.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT started quickly by earning the game's first eight points and cruised to a 25-8 win in the first set.
  • Buffalo State took its first lead in the contest, early in the second frame, with a 9-7 lead off a service ace from Eimile O'Brien (Marietta/Marcellus). The Tigers reclaimed the lead a few points later and used a 12-4 run to take control of the frame and never looked back, earning a 25-19 set win.
  • RIT completed the straight-sets win with a 25-13 victory in the third set fueled by a 11-1 run midway through the set.
  • Buffalo State posted with a season-low with only 10 kills and finished with a negative-.063 attack percentage.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Katie Hobler led the Tigers' offense with 13 kills and chipped in seven digs.
  • Kelly Fellner added 11 kills, while Erin Parkinson finished with 37 assists.
