Houghton, NY. The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team extended their win streak to seven with a 2-1 victory over Houghton College. The Red Dragons improved their overall record to 9-2, and the Highlanders fell to 5-6. Junior
Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) scored her eighth goal of the season, and moved her point streak to seven straight games with a point scored.
The Red Dragons opened up the scoring in the 11
th minute with Wells finding the back of the cage off of a steal. The Highlanders knotted the game 1-1, 17 minutes later at the 28:15 mark. Caitlin Jennings scored her eighth goal of the season, after receiving a pass from Tanya Hatton.
At the half, the Red Dragons and Highlanders were even in penalty corners with two, and the Red Dragons held a two shot advantage 3-1.
Coming out of the break the Red Dragons took advantage. In the second half the Red Dragons outshot the Highlanders 11-4 including the go ahead goal by freshman
Chloe Lynch (Baldwinsville/Baldwinsville). The game winner came in the 67
th minute off of a cross from senior
Natalie Longo (Endwell/Maine Endwell), her third assist on the season.
Sophomore
Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) earned her eighth win of the season. In the match she had one save.
The Red Dragons are back in action this weekend at Swarthmore College on October 7
