ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped a 49-39 contest at Oneonta on Friday. The Devils were led by
Katie Pitcher with a team-high 11 points.
Anna Chiacchia and
Lauren Mickley chipped in eight points each.
Oneonta scored the first ten points of the game thanks to a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc.
Heaven Rollek finally got the Blue Devils on the scoreboard at the five-minute mark. Fredonia finished the quarter outscoring Oneonta 10-6 to trail 16-12 entering the second quarter.
The second and third quarters were low scoring. Oneonta outscored the Devils 10-5 in the second, and both teams scored just seven points each in the third. The Dragons led 33-24 after three quarters. They would go on to outscore the Devils by a point, 16-15, in the fourth.
The Blue Devils shot 31 percent (15-of-48) from the floor and 25 percent (3-of-12) from behind the arc. Oneonta shot 36 percent (20-of-55) from the field, and 46 percent (5-of-11) from three-point land.
Oneonta moves to 6-9 and 3-5 in the conference. Leanne Corso had 14 points and seven boards, while Olivia Allrich contributed 11 points.
Fredonia State moves to 6-8 / 2-5. The Devils look to bounce back on Saturday against New Paltz.
